Colleen R. Murphy

Major: Sociology: Law and Society

As the Policy Advocacy Coordinator for the Triton Underground Scholars Program Colleen is dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated and system impacted students achieve their academic goals.  In her position, she provides mentorship and resource referrals to both current and prospective students, advocate for policies that directly impact the system impacted population and also serves as a liaison between campus administration and UCSD students.

Briana Gomez

Wellness Coordinator

Major: Anthropology/Biology

Minor: Psychology

Briana is continuously learning what it means to be her and she gives herself the space, flexibility, and love needed to harbor her truest authenticity. She applies this type of view and growth mindset to her Wellness Coordinator position at UC San Diego in order to help others help themselves and ultimately to lead by example in the pursuit of a freedom rich and loving life practice. Her approach to the TUS Wellness Pillar is holistic at heart and is geared to facilitate respectful human connection and healthy personal embodiment. Through this community she hopes to be a bridge to anyone who is on the path to self discovery and righteousness. 

Stephanie Cagle

Student Retention Coordinator

Major: Sociology

Within her position, Stephanie is devoted to assisting formerly incarcerated as well system impacted students succeed at UCSD. She is passionate about strengthening the community within the current members of Underground Scholars as well as future students who are interested in becoming a part of the expanding organization. Stephanie is a student parent and enjoys going to the beach with her son.

Joaquin Mena Jr.

Recruitment Coordinator

Major: Ethnic Studies

Minor: Chicanx/Latinx Studies

Joaquin Mena Jr. is the Recruitment Coordinator for the Triton Underground Scholars Program. With years of experience working in the community and a passion for education, Joaquin is committed to helping system-impacted students succeed academically and personally.  Joaquin firmly believes that education is the key to breaking the cycles of incarceration and recidivism, and he is dedicated to creating a more equitable and just society for all. In his free time, Joaquin enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his family.
